Noreen Marie Armstrong

The family of Noreen (Vosburg) Armstrong of Lambeth and formerly of Belmont, announces her peaceful passing at Parkwood Institute on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the age of 98.  Beloved wife of the late Alec Burton Armstrong (1988).  Loving mother of Ross and Barbara of Belmont, Larry and Elizabeth of  St. Thomas (Glanworth), and Gary and Charlene of Beachburg.  Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Michael (Shannon), Douglas, Steven (Samantha); Clinton, Wade (Karla); Mandie, Don (Tina); great –grandchildren Alec; Lilah and Reese, Hailie, Mason and Avery; Elyse.  Survived by many nieces and nephews.  Noreen was born to George W. and Mary-Belle (Smith) Vosburg on March 13, 1920, on the family farm in Inwood.  She was the last surviving member of her siblings Marguerite Craig, John Vosburg, Joseph Vosburg and Marion McBride. 

As newlyweds, Noreen and Alec moved to Calgary, where Alec was stationed with the RCAF during WW2.  They returned to Ontario and settled in Belmont where they raised their three sons.  When their children were grown, Noreen worked for Canada Post as Assistant Postmaster until her retirement.  She was a member of Belmont United Church, was active in the UCW and Meals on Wheels.  Noreen lived in her family home until the age of 92, then moved to Ashwood Manor, Lambeth. 

Friends may visit at the McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home,  2240 Wharncliffe Road, South, Lambeth 519-652-2020 on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where the celebration of Noreen`s life will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 11 am.  Reverend Sue Browning officiating.  Interment Dorchester Union Cemetery.  Donations to St. Joseph`s Health Care Foundation Parkwood Institute www.sjhcfoundation.org or charity of your choice gratefully acknowledged.  On-line condolences are available trhough www.mcfarlane-roberts.ca.
