It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of George Ivan Lucas of Lambeth, in his 93rd year, on May 8, 2019, following a courageous battle with cancer.  Beloved husband for 71 years of his high school sweetheart, Eleanor (McKercher).  Cherished father of Larry (Audrey), Bill (Cindy), Rick (Dorothy), Mary (late John Moynihan 2011) and Kim Millar (Steve).  Dear brother to Arn (Lynne), and predeceased by brothers Don and Ken, and sister Margaret.  Fondly remembered by his 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  Dearly missed by all his nieces and nephews.  Ivan was born in the old William Andrew Lucas farm house located in Brooke Township.  He worked primarily in the food industry, Marra’s, General Bakeries and Wonder Bakeries where he rose to General Manager.  “Sparky” was an avid sports fan and coached many Lambeth minor teams.  Family will receive friends at the McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home, 2240 Wharncliffe Road South, Lambeth, 519-652-2020 on Saturday, May 25, 2019 from 2-4 pm with Words of Remembrance at 4 pm.  Donations to the Terry Fox Foundation, 1200 Eglinton Avenue E. #900, North York, Ontario M3C 1H9 or Parkwood Institute, c/o St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation, 268 Grosvenor Street, Room A1-015, London, Ontario N6A 4V2 gratefully acknowledged.  On-line condolences are available through www.mcfarlane-roberts.ca.  The family wishes to thank the staff at Strathmere Lodge for their care and compassion provided to Ivan.
