Early Sunday morning, Rudy left us to be reunited with the love of his life, Johanna.  He died of heart failure, aka broken heart syndrome.  He married Johanna 3 months after meeting her, and was completely devoted to her for 68 years.  Even after Johanna suffered a massive stroke, he never left her side.  He was there right to the end.  This is what made him a great man. 

They came to Canada from war torn Germany, worked hard for pennies, scrimped and saved without any handouts and were able to travel when they retired from their factory jobs.  Rudy loved to travel, loved fishing and being near the water.

He will be missed by daughter Sylvia Millar, son-in-law Bill and grandson Matt.  Friends may visit at the McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home, 2240 Wharncliffe Road South, Lambeth, on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 7 – 9 p.m.  Cremation has taken place.  Donations to the Sprucedale Care Centre, 274 Head Street North, Strathroy, Ontario  N7G 4L7 gratefully acknowledged.  On-line condolences are available through www.mcfarlane-roberts.ca.   Thanks to the Sprucedale Care Centre staff for their care and love.
