James Douglas “Doug” Ross
Comfortably, on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at University Hospital in the arms of his soulmate Linda, James Douglas “Doug” Ross sailed his final voyage in his 83rd year. Father of Kate, Jim, Steve, Victoria, Scott and Amanda. Grandfather of seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Also survived by his siblings Joan, Bruce and Penny.
Doug was born in Sarnia on May 29, 1933 to James and Claudia (Gillson) Ross. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and was a Canadian Forces East Coast Diver for 27 years. He served on several ships with his last post being aboard the H.M.C.S. GRANBY. After returning to Sarnia in 1975 he worked at Fiberglas Canada until its closing and completed his work career with the Core of the Commissionaires. Doug’s courage, strength and humour will forever be of comfort to those who loved him.
At Doug’s request cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation gratefully acknowledged.
