Obituary of Kenneth R. Cassis

1939-2023

Peacefully at University Hospital, Ken passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the age of 83.  Beloved husband for 34 years to Valerie McLean.  Loving father of Deborah (Ed) Sparkman, Michael Cassis, Darryl Cassis, Nickolas (Heather) Cassis, Julia Cassis, Joseph Cassis and grandfather to multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren .  Annoying brother to Jeanette Faubert, Claudette (Bill)Dobson,  Anita Moodie, Philip (Lorna) Cassis and Lynda(Ian) Charlton.  Predeceased by his parents Nickolas Cassis and Violetta (D'Allaire) Cassis and brothers-in-law Reginald Faubert and Irvine Moodie.

Ken grew up in his father's store, the Central Fruit Market in St. Thomas, Ontario.  He was very happy to tell stories of the various people and personalities he encountered.  He then joined the Navy and frequently reminisced about his travels. 

Ken always loved music and dancing and spent quite a few years as a professional musician, travelling throughout Canada with various bands, but most notably the Belltones.  He met so many interesting people and had many adventures while singing, telling jokes and playing the drums.

He then moved on to the Financial Planning Industry in which he excelled and from which he retired.  He loved helping people, plan for the future and his clients became like family.  He shared in their lives and family stories and they shared in his. 

He was a dreamer of dreams for himself and for the people he loved and he did whatever he could to help realize those dreams.

He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.

A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 1 at 2pm at:
