Obituary of Mike Chinnery

Michael “Mike” Chinnery of St. Thomas Ontario passed away while surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday evening Oct 10th, 2023, at the St. Thomas Elgin Hospital at the age of 60, following a battle with cancer. Deeply loved husband of Lorrie Chinnery (Donovan) for 40 years. Loving father of Brook (Ashley) of Fingal and Bailey (Luke) of Australia. Cherished son of Margaret Chinnery (Etienne) of Shedden and the late Richard Chinnery (2000). Proud grandad of Lydia, Leland and Seth. Greatly missed by brothers Ian (Krista) and Mark (Trish). Uncle to Cameron (Courtney and Hunter), Devon, Ryan (Katelyn, Brody and Mason), Tyler (Krissy), Spencer (Amanda) and Jenna (Adi) Chinnery. Brother-in-law of Kelly (Mike), son in law of Dave (Pat) Donovan. Mike was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Ina Scott and sister-in-law, Debbie Donovan. He is fondly remembered by cousins, aunts, uncles and friends from Canada, the UK and beyond.
Mike was born in Stevenage, England on June 24th, 1963. He was active in Brook’s sporting adventures as he would coach hockey and soccer in St. Thomas. He took great pleasure in watching Bailey compete in gymnastics, track and field events, dance and cheerleading. Throughout his life he could be found at various motorsport tracks enjoying all things fast and loud. He was an avid Nascar and Formula 1 enthusiast. He was the crew-chief and father of BC Racing #25 at Wonderland Speedway. Mike also enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, being amongst nature with his fur babies. He loved spending time with family and friends, it was very important to him. Mike worked as a Millwright for 35 years throughout Ontario. He always had a passion to learn new skills, loved to challenge himself, and with his friendly smile, big heart and infectious laugh, he soon became your friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at the McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home, 2240 Wharncliffe Rd. S, London on Sunday October 22nd at 1pm. Visitation prior from 11-1pm. Cremation has taken place. Those wishing to donate in memory of Mike, please consider Ontario Trails Council or Another Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation.
