Obituary of Winston Marrs
Marrs- Winston, 80, of St Thomas Ontario, passed away on Dec 6th surrounded by his family.
Winston, affectionately known by friends as Winny, was born in Montreal, Quebec, on February 25, 1943.
Winston grew up in Eastern Ontario with his mother, Edna; his father, William; and his three siblings, Mary-Ellen, Mildred, and John. This is where he met Beverly Marrs (O’Shaughnessy), the love of his life; they were married in 1966 in Williamsburg. They moved to London, Ontario, in 1969, where they started their own family.
Winston was not a man to sit still. He worked hard and was always proud of a good day’s labour.
He was not afraid of the challenge, starting his own business as an excavator in 1976 with little knowledge of the trade. He was a self-taught jack of all trades who could solve almost any problem, whether learning to run a backhoe or bulldozer, building cabinets or fixing small engines. He was a tinkerer with tenacity.
Winston loved the outdoors. His favourite pastimes were camping, hunting, and fishing, passions he shared with his son John. He also loved to live in the woods on his property in Eastern Ontario or ‘down home’ as he always affectionately called it.
Winston will be dearly missed by his son John (Laurie), daughters Debra and Shannon (Scott) and his six grandchildren Olivia, Darby, Liam, Shaughnessy, Payten and Jace.
