I was a brand new graduate nurse in 1974 and Velma was very kind, helpful and patient with the new nursing staff. She was an excellent role model and encouraged those of us who were young and fearful to stick it out. Thanks to Velma, I nursed for 38 years at Victoria Hospital. Rest in peace dear lady!

Karen thinking of you at this time and hoping happy memories of your mom help to ease your pain. It was a pleasure to visit with her and your dad when at McCormick Home visiting with dad and especially having lunch with them. Take care Ann

I am a volunteer on Memory Lane and on Monday I was talking to Velma and Grant. When Velma could not see Grant, I heard her say 'Where is my man?' And a staff member took her to him. I am so sorry for your loss. What a pleasure to have known Grant and Velma as a couple. My deepest condolences.

Velma was in the Victoria Hospital class of 1953. We will miss her thoughtfulness and warm smile. She came to all our class reunions. She stayed true to her nursing career and remained nursing longer than most of us. Lets raise a glass to Velma. A sister friend to us all.

Sincere Sympathy to you all. Grant may remember me. Since I don't know any of you the easiest explanation is Rob Parsons is my second cousin. Your mother was very caring to my Mother many years ago. As a young girl I recall her natural nursing skills. I also have memories of George &Mabel Gowanlock's home. Also noticed Pat's mother Betty has also passed. Best to all and any Littlewood friends and acquaintances. Shirley Hammond

I'm so sorry for your family's loss. I have many fond memories of our family visiting yours on the farm and what a kind, hardworking, and funny lady Velma was. She always had a smile on her face. She was a great cook too, and my dad was sure she made the very best potato salad in the world! May your memories of your life with her give you comfort in your time of sorrow.

I know Karen, John and family when I lived in Lambeth, but I knew Velma from Victoria hospital, she used come and help when we were busy in Labour and Delivery, it was always such a pleasure to see her lovely smile, and watch her care for the patients with such compassion and love. She was a wonderful lady and I am sorry for your loss.
