Ruby was my sister’s sister in law, I remember Ruby during my childhood in St. Jon’s NLI would show up at her house unannounced because I knew there would be a yummy treat offered.Lost contact for many years when Ruby and Dave moved to Ontario.Several years later I also moved to Ontario. Over the years we saw each other on occasion. The greeting she would give was as if we were seeing each other every day. Ruby was an amazing woman, and I will always remember her loving character. To her family. Patricia Bondy (Whelan)

Karen and Dave, I am sorry to hear of your loss. I remember being made welcome in your home on Willow Drive by Mrs. Rawlings and the whole family when I chummed around with Karen as girls. Good memories.

‘Aunt’ Ruby was the kindest, truest and most compassionate person I’ve ever known. As a child, my brother and I would occasionally stay with ‘Aunt’ Ruby and ‘Uncle’ Dave. We would eat French fries and make houses out of cards. I remember wandering down the street just to chat with Aunt Ruby. She created beautiful afgans in her spare time. She made one for me and another one for my daughter…she did this with compromised vision. She was an amazing woman.
My sincere condolences,
Susan (Van Beest) Donaghy

My Aunt Ruby was the last of my Mothers brothers and sisters. Over the many years we had a wonderful relationship and looked forward to our calls and talks together. She was like a second mother to me and I loved her dearly. She was always wanting to know about how things were going with me, my children and grandchildren. She truly cared and we had such wonderful memories of when the family lived in Newfoundland and even some not so good times but she was such a positive person and always looked on the bright side of life. Aunt Ruby had a wonderful marriage with her husband Dave and raised two wonderful children. Her family was the best of the best and she was so proud of her children and always talked of them and her grandchildren. Aunt Ruby although having bad vision saw life better then most and was always uplifting and positive and felt that things would always turn out for the best and there was no such thing as a bad day because you could always make it brighter and she was right. She lived a long and happy life and she knew her children would always be there for her and she was right again. She spent her final years living very close to the Daughter Karen and Dave was not far away and they made sure she had everything she needed. She lived independently almost right up to the end of her life and her mind was sharp. She could remember the past better than I could. It wasn't until about the last year that I noticed a difference but when your in your 90's that can happen and does to most of us. Aunt Rudy was a tremendous lady and the best Aunt you could ever ask for. I loved her and will miss her with all my heart but she is with Dave once again and the Angles are singing and God received a special gift...My Aunt Ruby

So sorry for your loss. She looked like a very sweet woman. I am the granddaughter of her late sister, my Nana Elizabeth. I never got a chance to meet or know most of my family on that side. Rest in peace Ruby!
