Obituary of Iris Payne

Payne, Iris Isobel (nee Alexander), It is with deep sadness that the Iris Payne family announces her passing on Saturday, September 28, 2024, in London, Ontario.

Daughter of John and Mary Alexander, wife of 50 years to Wayne, Mom to Amberley, Grandma to Orianna and Abriella. Dear sister of Ross of Exeter, Joan of Strathroy, and Paul (Lynn) of Hensall. Also remembered by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbours and extended family.

Iris grew up on a farm near Hensall and then moved to London to prepare for a career as a legal secretary. She became a meticulous record keeper and was deeply devoted to her family, and immensely proud of her granddaughters. Iris became the rock for everyone. Iris was an active member of her church and enjoyed studying scripture. Her quiet and wise ways and her bright smile will be treasured memories.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home, 2240 Wharncliffe Rd. S., London. (Lambeth) Private family burial to take place at Baird’s Cemetery. A memorial service will take place at Stoney Creek Baptist Church. 2225 Highbury Avenue North, London, ON N5X 4A4 on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 1:30 pm. Donations can be made to Stoney Creek Baptist church, or you could plant a tree in memory of Iris.
