I was very saddened to recently hear the news of Bruce's passing. My heartfelt condolences and prayers to all his family and friends, he will be missed greatly by all. Throughout my time knowing Bruce and his wife Marjorie, he was always a kind and compassionate gentleman who I enjoyed delightful conversations with learning of his experiences as a teacher, dedication to his faith, his admiration and love for Marjorie, their children and grandchildren which he had a lot of pride in. He always looked forward to time spent with them and special outings like his birthday and his daughters made him the best chocolate cakes. At Ashwood Manor, they both were a joy to provide care for and helped many to enjoy their days and to love our jobs. We always looked forward to his smiling face to say "Good morning" everyday and always wished me to "Have safe travels home", as he knew how far I drove everyday. We all thought he had a "green thumb" in gardening, growing and sharing beautiful plants, his competitive nature during a friendly bingo game with friends, he was always dedicated to doing daily walks and enjoyed attending afternoon music events and spending time with his friends who he treated like family. He was always kind, considerate and looking out for others throughout each day including new residents to feel welcome. He will fondly be remembered by all who knew him. Prayers he is resting peacefully and is once again by the side of his greatest love, Marjorie whom he missed dearly. Rest in Peace dear friend. Sincerely, Emma Piche

I was lucky to have taught in Bruce’s Dept.@ Sir George Ross in the early 70s. He was a kind and considerate mentor. My husband and I enjoyed several BBQs @ Bruce and Marjorie’s Lambeth Church. They were always welcoming hosts and it’s sad they are both gone! Please accept my sincerest condolences!

My husband, Peter, and I were in Mr. Manning’s Grade 6 class at Lambeth Public School (on Talbot Rd. S.
- the only school in Lambeth at the time), in 1961. He shared his love of music through the songs we learned and was a caring, soft spoken teacher,
We kept in touch over the years through a connection to Lambeth United Church and later through Ashwood Manor where my mother, Eva Marlatt, was a resident.
Our thoughts are with the families of Bruce and Marjorie as they deal with the loss of such a fine man - father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
